Congratulations and welcome to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC)! You've joined an organization of approximately 1,700 employees dedicated to helping Ohio's injured workers and employers. We've put this website together to share everything we think you might need or want to know about life here at BWC.

Who we are
Since 1912, Ohio's workers' compensation system has helped employers and employees cope with workplace injuries by providing medical and compensation benefits for work-related injuries, diseases and deaths. We have a central office in Columbus and 10 customer service offices located across the state.

We provide insurance to about two-thirds of Ohio's workforce. The remaining workers receive coverage directly through their employers. These companies are part of a self-insurance program for large and financially stable employers who meet strict qualifications set by BWC.

With $28 billion in assets, we're the largest exclusive state-fund workers' compensation system in the United States and the second largest underwriter of workers' compensation insurance in the country.
