Workers' Comp University offers chance for customers to be students

This fall the Bureau of Workers' Compensation will bring its Workers' Compensation University to customers in seven locations around Ohio.

These free educational sessions will focus on topics and programs ranging from improving safety standards in the workplace and keeping workers' compensation costs down to accessing and using BWC's Web site.

In WCU's interactive classes BWC customers will learn how to get the most out of Ohio's workers' compensation system and learn about BWC's latest programs and initiatives.

WCU sites are as follows:

Sept. 17 Cambridge Pritchard Laughlin Convention Center
Sept. 25 Columbus Columbus Convention Center
Sept. 27 Akron John S. Knight Center
Oct. 2 Dayton Dayton Convention Center
Oct. 10 Cleveland Cleveland Convention Center
Oct. 18 Toledo SeaGate Convention Center
Oct. 24 Cincinnati Cincinnati Convention Center

Last year, more than 9,000 employers, health-care providers, injured workers, business owners, and labor representatives attended WCU.

Qualified medical providers will be able to qualify for continuing education credit for attending the general session and treatment guidelines for medical providers. Likewise, qualified employers can receive credit for step six of BWC's 10-step Business Plan.
