OhioBWC - Basics:  Protecting Your Claim Information

Protecting your claim information

In order to protect the privacy of our injured workers and employers, a security process has been developed to safeguard your individual claim information. In order to safeguard your claim information, you were instructed to select a password known only to you. Should you forget your password, you will need to contact your local customer service office for instructions to restore your claims screen access.

Do not share your log on code with anyone! Some claim information screens will require your claim number and your user ID and password. A log on screen will prompt you to complete the security information required to access the claims screen and your claims data. You will not be able to access these screens without your user ID and password. You will only be able to access claims data pertaining to your own claim number(s). The Basic Information screen will allow you to correct your personal data that may have been reported to BWC in error.

Medical information and your managed care organization (MCO)
The MCO is responsible for ensuring strict confidentiality of all information generated as a result of managing the case. The MCO, its officers, agents, employees, representatives, subcontractors and assigns shall keep confidential all information, in whatever form obtained, including but not limited to knowledge of the contents of confidential records of BWC. Any information subject to the confidentiality laws of this state shall not be released to any person other than authorized representatives of BWC, unless BWC directs its release.
