OhioBWC - Basics:  Do I need an attorney to handle my claim?

Legal representation

Retaining an attorney is your choice! By publicizing an overview of your rights and entitlements in a workers’ compensation claim you will obtain a better picture of the laws that govern BWC and how the claim process works. Should you have questions in regard to your claim, we will be glad to talk with you to help you better understand the process.

We respect your right to retain legal counsel to help you with your claim. BWC will maintain an impartial position and if you have specific legal questions we will direct you to contact your attorney for assistance.

BWC will respond to general questions in a timely manner and assist you in understanding:

  • Your responsiblities in filing a claim;
  • BWC benefits that may be available to you;
  • How and when payment is made;
  • BWC services;
  • BWC claim processes.
