Explanation of Benefits

An explanation of benefits (EOB) is a reference listing of codes that are used to communicate with providers about reimbursement and billing. The codes are currently 3-digits to 5 digits, including alphanumeric.

The look-up would enable providers a simple way of identifying the reason for a change in reimbursement, without having to find the EOB listing.

The EOB list publishes tri-annual updates. When a valid EOB is entered, results will return with the EOB, EOB Description, and payment impact. In addition to the look-up feature, providers may also download a copy of the most recent EOB list.
