FORJAK Industrial recognized with Safety Innovations award

Awards recognize employers that develop workplace safety innovations

COLUMBUS - FORJAK Industrial of Columbus (Franklin Co.), today took third place in the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) Safety Innovations Competition, which recognizes Ohio employers that have developed innovative solutions to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses. The award was presented during the Safety Congress & Expo 2015, BWC’s annual three-day occupational safety, health and workers' compensation conference.

"I am continually impressed with Ohio employers' commitment to keeping their workers safe on the job, and their creativity in addressing safety concerns specific to their operations," said BWC Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer. "Safety Innovations award winners not only establish outstanding safety programming, but they also find innovative ways to improve safety and productivity by creating new solutions where none exist."

The Safety Innovations competition was introduced in 2012 at the Safety Congress and Expo. Twelve semifinalists were selected from the 53 companies that entered the competition and the five finalists are showcasing their innovations at Safety Congress this week. A panel of independent judges evaluated and scored the innovations based on a number of criteria, including risk reduction, innovation, return on investment, potential for the innovation to be utilized by other employers, and presentation quality.

FORJAK Industrial provides paint coatings and general maintenance in the commercial and Industrial industries. The company developed the "Better Faster Finish Painting System." The company developed the "Better Faster Finish Painting System." The forklift-mounted system reduces the risk of injuries by allowing employees to perform power washing, spray painting and paint rolling operations from inside the cab of the forklift.

FORJAK will receive a $3,000 cash prize along with its third place award.

The other Safety Innovations Competition award winners:

  • 1st place ($7,000 award): Bemis North America, of Fremont (Sandusky Co.)
  • 2nd place ($5,000 award): First Solar Inc., Perrysburg (Wood Co.)
  • 4th place ($1,000 award): Mansfield Engineered Components, Mansfield (Richland Co.)
  • 5th place ($1,000 award): Harmony Systems and Service Inc., Piqua (Miami Co.)
