Clendenin appointed BWC Northeast Ohio business development manager
COLUMBUS - Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer today announced the appointment of Mark Clendenin as business development manager for Northeast Ohio. In this position,
Clendenin will serve as an ambassador for Buehrer and work with employers that could substantially benefit from BWC's safety and claims management services. Clendenin is one of four such managers across the state.
"We are pleased to have Mark to help employers create safer work environments and effectively assist workers when they are injured, which are both key to lowering workers' compensation premiums and freeing up funds
for employers to energize company growth and job creation," said Buehrer. "Mark and his counterparts are seasoned professionals who will bridge a gap between BWC and employers that we must fill if we are to accomplish
our prevention and care mission."
BWC offers numerous programs that can help businesses save money, generally focused on preventing accidents and improving worker care. Clendenin will work with other BWC staff to educate employers on these programs
and increase participation in them. One example is Destination: Excellence, a program that allows businesses to choose from up to seven money-saving options focused primarily on creating safer work places and
transitioning injured workers back onto the job. He will also establish relationships with employers in Northeast Ohio to ensure their workers' compensation needs are being met.
Clendenin has more than 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. His background covers virtually every aspect of the industry, including public and private accounting, financial services, life
and commercial insurance, teaching, and the construction industry.
Most recently, Clendenin was the principal at Resource Financial Group, LLC, where he provided comprehensive individual financial planning services and 401-(k) consulting to individuals and businesses.
Clendenin also served as the computer applications and finance teacher for Northwest High School. Prior to that, he was the vice president of Northeast US sales for Life Settlement Insights, LLC. Clendenin commits to
community involvement through volunteer positions with Rotary International, Junior Achievement, The Walsh University Advisory Board, Chamber of Commerce and local youth activities.
Clendenin lives in Jackson Township (Stark County).
