OhioBWC - Employer - Form:  (U-20; U-21) - Introduction

Application for Individual-Retrospective Rating Plan
Private Employers (U-20); Public Employers (U-21)

Introduction to individual-retrospective rating
Individual-retrospective rating is an alternative rating plan that allows the employer to initially pay BWC less premium than it would without the plan.

An employer participating in the individual-retrospective rating plan may earn a possible premium reduction by assuming a portion of the risk. The greater the portion of the risk assumed, the greater potential reduction in premiums.

As outlined in OAC 4123-17-42 Private (PA) employers applying for the Individual Retrospective Rating program are required to submit audited financial statements using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) by the application deadline. If you are applying for the first time you will need to submit five years of audited financial statements. If you are a current participant, you will only need to submit the most recently completed audited year.

Please send your required financial statement to retrorating@bwc.state.oh.us Should you need more information about Retrospective Rating or you want to learn more about our other program options, please visit www.bwc.ohio.gov, call 614-441-0745, or send an email to EmployerProgramUnit@bwc.state.oh.us.

BWC will obtain Public (PEC) employer audited or reviewed financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP or other comprehensive basis of accounting as permitted in Ohio auditor bulletin 2005-002 from the state of Ohio auditors website. We reserve the right to obtain financial information from a public employer.
