Update Employer Information

Introduction
Update employer information allows you to update company information in your BWC policy online. It's important to notify BWC of any changes to your company information so you or other appropriate employees receive claims information, refunds and other BWC notices timely. And now you can make those updates yourself here.

BWC has based much of its formatting on codes and abbreviations used by the U.S. Postal Service.

Policy Name and Doing Business As (DBA) Name
When you update your policy name, use no more than 40 characters. When submitting any updates online, you must fill in the policy name. Do not leave it blank. BWC will receive the change automatically.

You can also change the DBA or Trade Name online. The number of characters allowed in this field is also 40. However, if you do not have a DBA name, you can leave this line blank.

What do I do if I want to change not only my Policy Name but also my Federal Tax ID Number or Social Security Number (SSN)?
BWC cannot accept an employer name change online that involves changing the Federal Tax ID Number or the SSN. These changes may involve a change in your business type; therefore, you must notify BWC by mail. To do this, download and print the Policy Name/Federal ID Number Change (U-9). Have your legal representative fill out the form, sign it and mail it back to BWC. BWC will only make the changes when these steps are complete.

Employer Address Updates

Primary Address Location
You must update your primary address with a physical location not a P.O. Box. If you enter an inaccurate address the system will reject it and keep your current primary address. Provide the appropriate suffix for your street name i.e., Rd., Ave., St., Station. Also include directional information where it applies i.e., Wooster Rd. NW or N. Main St.

Street Address can be no more than 40 characters, and City can be no more than 30. You must complete both fields before submitting updates.

Enter the two-character abbreviation for State and a five-digit ZIP Code. You must fill in this information unless you have a foreign address.

Foreign Address
BWC captures foreign addresses differently. The Street Name is the same as that for U.S.A companies. Enter the other information under City such as TORONTO ONT M8X 2X3 CANADA. You will not see address data in any other fields. So, to update a foreign address:
1. Enter the address up to 40 characters under Street Address;
2. Enter the city, state/province, postal code, and country name, up to 30 characters, under City.

Mailing Address
To update your mailing address, you can enter either a physical location or P.O. Box. If you enter an inaccurate address the system will reject it and keep your current primary address. Provide the appropriate suffix for your street name i.e., Rd., Ave., St., Station. Also include directional information where it applies i.e., Wooster Rd. NW or N. Main St.
