Ohio Occupational Safety and Health Research Program

BWC administers the Ohio Occupational Safety and Health Research Program which provides up to $250,000 grants for research projects by Ohio's not-for-profit higher education institutions and research organizations. For this fiscal year (FY15), the total amount of funds available is $2 million.

The purpose of the grant program is to promote research that will have an impact in the areas of occupational safety and health - on the overall safety, health, productivity and competitiveness of Ohio's workforce. We modeled the program after the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's (NIOSH) National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA). The duration of each research project is limited to 12 to 24 months.

Research-to-practice focused proposals must demonstrate:

  • A high probability for short- or long-term impact for the proposed research project (basic and/or applied);
  • A commitment to achieving optimal dissemination of research products including knowledge, interventions, recommendations and technologies;
  • A commitment to engaging internal and external partners throughout the process.
